Though cello is my primary instrument and what I have spent most of my life studying, I have also developed a strong foundational understanding of playing technique for all the string instruments. Haveing taught orchestra in a public school setting it is required to have this basic understanding, so I am confident in my teaching beginners in the following instruments.

Teaching Philosophy

I once heard a cello teacher on a podcast say, “Everyone deserves the opportunity to create beautiful music.” I wish I could remember who it was, I listen to too many different podcasts, but that statement has stayed with me ever since.

Music has unlocked a part of me I could never put into words. It’s been a great source of joy and expression for me, and I want to help others find that voice for themselves as well.

I am a strong advocate for the Suzuki method and am currently working toward my Suzuki Level 1 Certificate of Achievement. I firmly believe that music is a language, one that is best learned through immersion, active listening, and learning by rote, much like how we acquire our first spoken language. Because my students range widely in age and experience, I thoughtfully adapt the Suzuki philosophy to meet each student's unique needs, creating an individualized and supportive learning environment.
